Raising money for Feeding America! It's FISH-A-THON 3: DEAR COD???
Welcome to our FISH-A-THON Fundraiser page!
For those out of the loop; this is no longer a school fundraiser. As of this moment, my college semester and last semester back pay have been finally paid off. While I have one more semester to go, and the money would be of great help... My father has stepped up to help me with this task, and I feel like I am in a better position than most to continue accepting help from my community.
But you know who isn't? The people we want to help instead.
For the last 5 weeks our fascist criminal war mongering president has defied a direct court order to allow the funding of SNAP during the current government shut down, something we have always continued to pay during previous shut downs, essentially starving millions of working and disabled citizens, and children. As of making this page, the shutdown has since ended, however SNAP benefits are still in a bit of a paper work hell and has resulted in only a few states awarding full benefits, others half, and some still none at all.
To put this in perspective; for every 1 meal a food bank provides, SNAP provides 9. And that is why the remaining time of this Fish-a-thon will be spent fundraising for local food banks. People are in serious trouble right now as they have not received food money since October 1st. If you or someone you know is a SNAP recipient, you may also send me your PayPal/aid links as I will also see about putting together a mutual aid directory.
All rewards will stay the same, and the timer can also still be extended when donations are made. More details of how to donate will be available as soon as possible/over the weekend.
For this Fundraiser we've chosen the organization Feeding America. They have a high score in trust and ratio of funds-needed to funds-raised, and also have a direct mission to feed the people!
STATUS: $220/$500 RAISED!
